Got it, though I've only spent about 10 minutes with it, mostly in caw mode. Quick impressions:
They've added a shitload.
They've added a shitload of hair (rejoice, Mistress Death; long hair abounds!) and other new junk. New eyes (including some cool new totally blank ones), facial scarring, so damn much new hair- I haven't done a lot, just wanted y'all to know that they really did add in a lot this year, and that's just like part of the head stuff. Cool f'n beans.
I'll toss more details after I sleep and get to actually play it and whatnot.

Haven't checked out the headgear, but the facepaints available are excellent- several actual facepaint parts are in now, so for instance, you can make the Powers of Pain, Kamala, and a bunch of other facepainted wrestlers easily now. Unfortunately, you still have a shit number of layers on the PSP. But it looks like the only facepaints they took out were the japanese mask ones (i.e. all of the ones toward the end of the list in '07), and they added a bunch of great ones, including some Alice Cooper-style eye makeup that you could use for a killer Crow-type character.
Looks like unlocking everything is gonna be a bitch, because everything is seriously expensive, and so far I'm not making a lot in season mode. But anyway.
Not bad. I still don't like the grapple system, which seems (so far anyway) to be hard grapple up and down as regular hard grapples and left and right as ultimate control moves, but I haven't tried making a movelist yet so I'm not sure. I'm also not certain what (if any) influence the fighting styles you select have on your movelist, but we'll figure it all out. Right now I'm just trying to get a feel for the game.
One really nice addition this time around is an S on the preview pic of each item that can be stylized differently. Makes it easier to figure out what options you have right off the bat, and a lot of the hairstyles have been consolidated in this way, so not only are there a ton of new hairstyles, but in a lot of the stylized versions the hairstyles are totally different, so there's really a hell of a lot of different hairstyles.
I can definitely imagine a lot of caws getting overhauled this year. But at the same time, I can see it being really, really simple to recreate characters from last year, because from what I can tell on the PSP so far, it looks pretty much identical- no freaky weird massive changes. I'm sure some of the numbers are off, but if you know the pieces, you could remake just about anyone exactly as they were if you want, barring pieces being missing.
Can't wait to see the 360 version of this stuff. I didn't want the game, but now I pretty well do.
Far as play goes, 24/7 Mode is a mixed bag- you spend a lot of time skipping days on the calendar to get to the next event. Or I have. I think you can train or something, but fucked if I know how offhand. AI is pretty pitiful so far, I've won all of my matches easily and I still don't have a complete handle on the controls. Graphics are pretty damned nice for a handheld though.
And for anyone wondering, Sandman's entrance on the PSP version doesn't have him coming through the crowd- he drinks and slams a beer in the entrance with a kendo stick in the other hand. It's still pretty cool. And looks like they've added a good number of new entrances, though you're still stuck with items during superstar entrances- like if you use King Booker's, you have a crown. Period.
And for those interested (and no one will be), there's now an "intro" tab on the entrance creator, which basically just controls how the camera acts for the couple of seconds or so before it shows you. So basically it's now Intro--Stage--Ramp--Ring In--Ring instead of just the last 4.
Um, that's about it for now, drop a line if you have any questions and I'll answer if I can- I'll check on the headgear bit, but I wouldn't doubt that there's turbans and junk, just makes sense.

I take it back- there's Face Paint, and then there's Mask Designs, which is where all of the Jap mask paints went. So they didn't take any out at all, that I can tell.
There's a turban, it's like Sabu's. There's a lot of new head bits- hoods, masks, hats, just a lot of new stuff there. Very cool.

Sorry man, with this being the PSP version, there's no telling. I mean, I only have 16 layers to work with, and over half of those are used to begin with. You'll be happy to know that you can have pierced nipples this time, though.
