w00t!!!!!
Bottom line, if you loved Bionic Commando back in the day like I did, you're gonna love Bionic Commando Rearmed.
For those not in the know, Bionic Commando is basically a platformer with a lot of shooting, and swinging via a bionic arm that shoots out wherever you want it to, grapples to surfaces and other cool stuff.
If you played the NES original (cuz seriously, this pretty much has nothing to do with the arcade version from back in the day), you've more or less played the game, though the graphics are gussied up a buttload and there's some new stuff you can do with the arm and whatnot. There's also offline multiplayer, but I haven't gotten into that- just into single player.
And let me tell you, it IS challenging. You get a life bar, but you can only take a few hits, so you have to avoid damage as much as possible, and when you get into spike obstacles and missile-launching assholes, well, y'know how it goes.
The game was redone with a great sense of humor, which comes across mostly during the cutscene text. VERY funny stuff. The gameplay seems intact and the controls are tight as hell; you'll be swinging like a champ in no time at all and blastin' fools.
Basically, I love it, and for $10, this is seriously a lot better than some full retail games I've played. It's damned near perfect- it's got the old-school fun and the new-school presentation and add-ons, and dammit, it's just awesome! Throw in those new ragdoll physics and it just makes it all KINDS of fun.
So what're ya waitin' for? Download the demo and then BUY the bastard!
