So, so pissed.
So I play a lot of local multiplayer on Rock Band 2 with Tams. We likes the Rock Band. Well, till now anyway- now I'm just pissed.
We start it up as usual last night. Right off the bat, when it normally loads all of the game info, it asks me if I want to overwrite my save- instead of just loading it as normal. I was like, sure, I guess, dunno why, but what can it hurt?
So we play for a good couple of hours, get pretty far in Band World Tour, determined to get an airplane before we stop playing. We're using my band- Wet Fart Riot- consisting of my 4 characters, each of whom are decked to the nines (or at least as far as they can be with the limited cash I've unlocked so far, but it's more paint and tats than items): Chupa on drums, Minion on bass, Bloodraven on vocals, Midnite Blue (can't be Midnight as it has 'nig' in it, which 'isn't considered classy' by the game) on guitar. Tonight, we've got Tams's girl Titz Magee standing in on guitar.
So we play and play, and then outta nowhere, the game just freezes. No big, I mean, it happens occasionally- first time it's happened to RB2, but y'know, whatever. We reset the 360. We reload the game.
When the game loads and we start Tour mode, we notice something... bad. Instead of my band's name- Wet Fart Riot- sitting underneath "Chupacabra24" as usual, it has the same band name as Tamara's- Homicidal Chipmonks II. WTF???
So I check my data. Sure enough, Homicidal Chipmonks II is the only band on my save, and Titz Magee is the only character on my save. Apparently, whatever overwrite it had me do at the beginning of our play session loaded up my characters, and then saved her stuff over mine.
Boom. Gone. A week and a half of work, at least 3 hours on designs and shit, multiple hours playing the lower gigs to make some cash- all just gone.
So if you play with people locally, do NOT- under ANY circumstances- say "yes" to an overwrite of any kind. If the game is working correctly, it'll autosave and you'll never need to overwrite anything. I still have no idea why it would've done that to begin with, but I've got a few good hours of remaking my characters to think about it and figure it out.
Sadness.
