An interesting little PlayStation Network game that's pretty much online-only, Warhawk is the semi-sequel to the PlayStation 1 original back in the day, but the resemblance ends there.
Basically, this is a fun little 3rd-person shooter with a few different game modes- basic stuff, team games mostly, capture the flag and the like.
You get to customize your character and your Warhawk airplane, and then get dropped into massive environments where your job is to kick the hell out of everyone else. Weapons are pretty basic, but there is a kick-ass flamethrower.
The environments themselves kick out some weaponry with stationary gun and missile emplacements, as well as vehicles such as tanks, jeeps with machine guns and of course, the Warhawk aircraft.
The great part is, this game- while barebones in a lot of ways- is very clean, very well done, and controls like a major title. And make no mistake, it looks good- the character models are almost cartoonishly simple-looking, but awesome.
Overall, if you want an awesome competitive multiplayer title, you owe it to yourself to give Warhawk a try. You can download a demo and put it through its paces; the only downside of the game is the price. $29.99 is a lot to ask for, and the game then allows you to purchase 'boosters' that have more maps and vehicles. I haven't purchased it myself just because it seems a little steep, but believe me when I say that this game is definitely on my 'to purchase' list.
Excellent, excellent game.
