This is an announcement being made specifically to protect the intellectual properties of OCW members.
As a member of OCW and these forums, you agree to the following:
*You have no rights to distribute any OCW characters online, except for those that are your personally-created, intellectual property, unless you have permission from the person that originally created the character. You may, of course, distribute your own characters in any way you wish.
*OCW and the Chupster specifically (that's me) has the right to use your characters in event videos for as long as you are an active member. You always have a right to refuse this by contacting the Chupster and notifying him that you are leaving the fed. Any event video taken during your active membership may be utilized at any point in the present or future for promotional, archival or promo purposes.
*Additionally you have the right to use any OCW video of matches containing your character(s) as you see fit, limited to video of your characters to prevent entire shows from being uploaded elsewhere. Your wrestlers are your wrestlers and I in no way claim any ownership over your intellectual property, and I have no problem with you using videos of matches including your characters; however, I am the one doing the work creating the videos and uploading, and any matches that do not contain your wrestlers may not be utilized without both my permission and that of the match participants' owners.
*You agree that the Chupster may upload videos including your characters to his monetized YouTube channel. Yes, it is possible that he could make a handful of pennies for his effort. No, you aren't going to get any. Considering the way YouTube pays, he probably won't see any himself either, but if he makes $10 over the next year spending dozens of hours running an efed for everyone's enjoyment, that's not a crime.
These rules are in place to protect your intellectual property and my own. Again, I make no claims of ownership over anyone else's intellectual property, and I don't allow anyone to make any claims over mine. I just need to be able to put videos up so we can all watch the events without someone going apeshit and claiming that I used their character without permission if they get their panties in a wad and take their ball and go home. Basically, if I record it for an event, yes, it could pop up in a promotional spot down the line and up until OCW or I croak. I have no problem with anyone using videos of their own characters, but again, I don't want entire events being uploaded on someone else's YouTube when I've done the lion's share of the work.
That's pretty much it! If you can agree to this, game on! If not, I'm sorry, but this is non-negotiable. People are grumpy, litigious assholes these days!
