First off, hi, and welcome to OCW!
I know we don't have a massive section where you can really learn about OCW's past, or the way things work. Yeah, we have the rules and guidelines and whatnot, and sure, you've probably been in an efed or two before, but how does OCW really work, and how do you fit into that?
OCW is all original characters, all simmed on SvR 2011. We in no way control anything, ever. Since Universe Mode is going to be where we're simming, random stuff can happen, like run-ins and the like, so please be aware that there IS a random quality to the shows. Manager characters cannot accompany wrestlers to ringside due to the poor AI concerning their interference, but they may be added as a character's Ally in order to make run-ins possible.
Your part is submitting a street-legal wrestler (see wrestler guidelines HERE), and then posting promos for that character on a weekly basis. That's it.
In regards to promos, within the OCW universe, OCW is a large-budget company- second to WWE- that has seen some financial upheaval and investor problems. OCW runs a more adult-themed show than the other wrestling companies, where profanity, excessive violence and even (rarely) nudity and sexual situations are broadcast.
New members are limited to one character for the first two months, which is considered an evaluation period. Veteran members may have two characters, and if they can keep up with the promo requirements, may have up to a total of four wrestlers at the current time.
You are responsible for your character's/characters' content. We encourage the writing of joint promos, or promos that include another character, as long as they are written in character. To that end, please contact any wrestler whose character you're planning on using. Collaborate, or get their feedback, whichever works for you.
Occasionally the fed will have a company-wide storyline that you can choose to participate in. Details will usually be posted in the Discussion area of the boards.
Each match will affect your character's standing on the rankings board. This is done through a combination of a win/loss ratio and a points system. This is explained in better detail here in the rankings post in the Rules & Regulations section. Rankings and promos determine how the shows are booked. If you have a specific match you'd like to see, please post it in the Match Requests section and we'll see what we can do, but please be aware that this will be subject to the natural progression of a feud (so no hell in a cell matches out of the gate), any storylines currently going on, and general common sense. Any reasonable request shouldn't be a problem.
OCW runs 1 show a week, with a pay-per-view card each month. Some of these have gimmicks and will be explained. This usually tallies out to 5 shows a month, but occasionally may be between 4-6 or even 7 shows a month. Every great once in a while, a rankings-based show may occur as an "extra" show, but they are rare.
At this point, we are planning on having video for most, if not all, of the shows. This is not guaranteed. Traditionally we have had show write-ups, which are usually detailed enough that you should have no problems using the results as promo material. But we are going to attempt to get as much video up as possible this year.
Show cards will usually be posted at the bottom of the main area, including all matches and the order in which they will occur. These are subject to change, but usually don't unless there's a storyline reason for it.
That's about it. Welcome to OCW, we hope you have a great time!
