I'm about to sit down here and do the rankings for the second show and realized that I've neglected to mention something in general.
In previous years (as the vets know), we had a loyalty bonus to stats at the beginning of each year (when we had control over the stats, that is). Nothing huge, just something that said, "this wrestler has been here for X amount of years and has become that much better for it."
This year there is no loyalty bonus; however, much like last year's failed WM08 OCW experiment, I AM working on a method by which each wrestler will be able to earn points, and then use those points to adjust stats, purchase additional stat points, and even purchase more abilities (beyond the initial 3).
This sounds easier than it actually is, because I'm also trying to make things fair. In the past, OCW wrestlers have been able to gain new stat points per so many wins (usually every 15 or 20 wins would gain a character a new stat point or two). However, this just tends to make the more successful wrestlers more successful than they already were, and while this is a natural byproduct of being successful to begin with, it left the rest of the fed in the dirt.
What I'm trying to do is find somewhat of a balance. For each win, a wrestler will earn X amount of points (with more points for more difficult wins). Losers will still gain points, just not as many. These will then be used to purchase stats and the rest of the stuff noted above.
Don't worry, we aren't going to have a fed overrun by a handful of superwrestlers; these stats will be expensive, to curb abuse.
I just wanted to let you guys all know that your characters aren't static; they will be able to grow and become better as time goes on.
Another stumbling block is that stats increase by 5's instead of by each point, which will just force us to make the stats more expensive.
Anyway, just throwing this out there. The following are what I plan to make available:
-additional stat points (by 5's)
-additional abilities (each will cost according to how directly they can affect the match)
-moveset or costume changes (beyond the 1 per month that you get for free)
-reassigning stat points (beyond the 10 per month that you can move for free)
-bribes, which get the purchaser out of suspensions/backstage attack consequences, once those are set up.
Once a paint tool hack is made available, I'll likely get rid of everyone's custom signs (those few of us that have any) and "sell" custom signs as well. And so on and so forth.
