Hey everyone!
Okay, after some careful deliberation and a lil testing, here's where we are so far. All of this is early days stuff, so drop a line if you have an opinion, but please explain, as I'm gonna try to explain my reasoning on stuff here too, if you would please! Thanks!
First off, regular normal OCW "Common Sense" rule: no superfat luchadores, no ultraskinny super heavyweights. I'm all for suspension of disbelief. If you tell me your guy is a cyborg from the future, I am fucking DOWN with that, but if we just have every genetic freak from here to Timbuk3 flying all over the ring or squashing folks, it's gonna take away from some enjoyment.
That said, pretty much the same rule as always: no drastic weight class changes. I get that sometimes folks will need some stuff reworked, but no super bunches of weight cutting. That said, if a guy just isn't working out and you feel like he needs to be canned if you can't change weight classes 1 level, I'm willing to work with folks on that, though not moving to or from super heavyweight, cuz 4 reals. lol.
Okay, I gave a ton of thought lately to the whole Skills & Abilities bit. Here's what I have.
Abilities: We'll start with 9 levels to work with. That's enough to make guys unique without overpowering anyone severely, and enough to make people think strategically. Yeah, you could get 3 levels of Ruthless Aggression right off the bat, and that'll be great if you're sticking to the X-Violence Division, but in regular matches, you likely just gave someone else 3 heads up on you.
Additionally, guys will be able to earn extra levels, but it isn't going to be anything fast. I don't have a solid number yet, because I don't know how often we'll have shows when we start off, but I was thinking about every 30-40 wins gets you a new level to assign.
I wasn't going to allow folks to start off with managers, but I'm thinking hey, if you're willing to sacrifice a level to get the Mouthpiece ability, I'll let an owner put in a manager as a third, strictly non-wrestling character. If we start running out of space, we'll deal with that down the road.
And of course, no one needs to take Brawl, Taunt, or Stare Down, as they're promo-only abilities, so please don't do that. Thank you!
Skills: ...And here's where it gets messy.
I went through and made 4 lists of all available Skills, divided by weight class. Generally speaking, it goes like this: Cruiserweights are light and speedy but wouldn't be able to make the big impacts, especially in a company where they'll likely be wrestling the bigger guys a good bit. (Y'all know we've always been a mostly-Heavyweight gig.) Light Heavyweights have some more of the power and momentum behind them, but still have that maneuverability. Heavyweights sacrifice some speed and agility for more power. And Super Heavyweights are just big goddamn monsters with little speed and less agility. That said, here's what I put together- basically, what each weight class can choose from Skill-wise (and no, I haven't even looked at the gals yet, and until we have enough ladies for a division, no real point), and as far as I'm concerned everyone can have every Skill in their weight class as long as they don't conflict like several of them do.

Okay, that's that. And for the coup de gras:
Attributes:
I'm still kind of thinking about this. Where I'm at right now is, we target an Overall score of 85, with an absolute minimum in any Attribute of 50. I know, they go down to 30, but the next thing you know, someone drops all of their submission stats and movement to 30, uses all the points for power, and boom! We have another unstoppable Lord Odin situation. And I'm fine for people bending the system to make their guys better; that's what we're doing, that's fantasy wrestling in a WWE game environment. But let's not be jackholes about it.
85 with a minimum of 50 in every stat gives everyone plenty of points to customize the shit out of their people without getting some Captain Insano shit going. And by an Overall of 85, I mean you can squeeze in every point you want to right up until your character's Overall hits 86, and then just drop that one extra point. Not "OMG I just barely hit 85," but "as close as you can get to 86 without being 86." It'll take a good bit of trial and error, but do your thang! And have fun with it!
As far as changing Attributes down the line, I'm thinking a maximum of 10 points changed, all at one time, each month. Not 10 Overall, 10 actual Attribute points. And if you take away, say, 10 from 3 different Attributes, but putting just 3 of those into a different Attribute puts you at 86, you'll have to work it around until you're moving 10 points or less and staying at your Overall limit. (I don't know that it would work that way, but I'm pretty sure it could.)
I think that's really about it. That's just about everything I have right now. If you see anything that you don't think is fair, let me know and we'll do what we can to get it worked out! Thanks everyone!
