Okay, here's something I just don't get.
So when we first got the XBox One, I browsed the store (always do at least once weekly), and saw Prototype 1 and 2, and I was elated! Prototype 1 and 2 on the XBox One, take THAT, backwards compatibility enthusiasts!!!
And then I saw the price. $60. APIECE.
WTF???
So I did a little research, and it ends up that the game is a direct port, so NO enhancements at all, and in some places it even plays worse than the originals. So no reason to buy it, especially for full price. Fuck that.
Then they put Deadpool back out! Great game, and before it was removed from store shelves, it was at that sweet $20 price point. They re-release it for the XBox One- again, no enhancements, no anything. BOOM!!! Full price, $60.
Again I ask you: WHAT. THE. FUCK???
Then they release (arguably) "enhanced" (after they fixed the DLC issues and shit) versions of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1 and 2. And I was excited! Oh, I was gonna get 'em! And... wait, what's that? $60 apiece? Again? FUCK.
So now, here we are, the "new" systems have been out for a few years, and we're getting ready to have the next set unveiled upon us (and granted, that Scorpio sounds SWEET- no more need for new systems or backwards compatibility! Yay!), and STILL, they're pulling the same shit.
Lego City Undercover- the one and only game I sort of wanted to get a WiiU for. A game that's like 3 years old at this point, or something. I dunno; what I do know is, it's $20 on the WiiU. Getting ready to come out for all the new hotness systems, but wait!
It's $60. Well who the fuck saw THAT coming?
Oh, you wanna play Bulletstorm? Yeah, that game was great on the 360. I had a helluva lot of fun with it. Oh, and if you preorder, you get to play through it as Duke Nukem? Well fuck ya, considering it's pretty much the game the last Duke Nukem should've been, sweet. And with the game being a few years old, I'm sure it's...
Oh. $60. Well, fuck my ass and call me Sally, I didn't see THAT coming. (Heh, that's what she said.)
So I just wanna know, what in the living fuck?
I mean, at this point, there are so few games coming out that I genuinely give a shit about, it isn't like I pay full price for a lot of them. I wait till they hit $30 or $20 and pick them up on the cheap, because fuck, I have over 100 games on the system, some of which have never even been launched, so I have some timekillers.
But dammit, when something older comes out and I get excited, it just hurts to see that $60 price tag. Especially since there's no reason for the games to be that damn expensive, anyway. Especially considering most games have expensive season passes, or DLC, or whatever that end up milking you for another $30 or so.
So this year, it's Agents of Mayhem, Crackdown, Injustice 2 (I'm making Ben buy that one, dammit, cuz I don't care that much), and State of Decay 2. And everything else I want can just fucking wait until it's cheap, because while I do believe in supporting games and studios I enjoy, I DON'T believe in being fucked in the ass, especially for games over a year old.
I mean shit, I still need to get a new digital copy of Halo 5. (We had a physical copy, but with 2 XBones in the house, we can only play against each other if we have digital- or 2 physical copies, but I only bought it for the multiplayer, so we sold that puppy quick.) It isn't like I can't wait.
But damn. New games being as expensive as they are, is there really any reason to fuck us over just because an older game was popular enough to garner a redo? Shit.
