Okay everyone, first off, submissions!
They've been pretty useless, right? I mean, we haven't even seen any submission wins so far this year, I don't think.
But Cyrox notified me that if you change the submission setting in Gameplay from the stick method to the buttons method, submissions actually become, y'know, viable. I tested, and yes, yes indeed they do. Submissions are held on longer (sometimes, anyway), depending on the submission Attributes and all that jazz. It doesn't make anyone use submissions any more than they already did- it just actually makes the 4 submission attributes actually affect the submission holds, instead of the small handful of lengthy submissions we've seen so far this year.
In the interest of fair play and submission wrestlers getting an even break (because let's face it, so far, if you made a submission-only wrestler, they either lost or we had to allow them to be changed), I'm proposing that we switch this permanently for OCW. We should have submission wrestlers that can win. We've had submission experts in the past, and I think it would only add variety to the fed, hence our vote here today.
Also in the interest of fair play, and given that we're basically (close enough) 3 months into the season, it's time for folks to be able to mod their characters anyway, but I'm proposing this one-time-only amnesty from the established modding rules: mod your guys how you want to. You can change everything, as much as you want to, this one time while we adjust rules- but ONLY if we institute submissions. Otherwise, things have been working pretty well. But if the new submissions system goes forward, everyone should be able to rework their character as needed in order to either take advantage of the new system OR defend against it.
After all, a lot of folks just dropped submission skills down to 50 across the board to have more Attribute points to work with- hell, I did it myself in some cases. Well, now you have a change to switch things up.
THAT SAID, if the new submissions system is voted in, you will be able to change any of the following, as long as it's changed to OCW standards:
Skills
Abilities
Hit Point Ratio
Personality
Moveset
...and of course, Attributes
Next up: the bulletin board!!!
My dumb ass has been tossing a ton of threads here into the Discussion area, when in the past, we had a section called "Return of the Bulletin Board!" Somehow, I glossed over the fact that this section even existed. In the very near future, all wrestler info threads (Music in the OCW, Rankings, etc.) will be transferred to this section and will reside there, freeing up the discussion area for... well, discussion.
Additionally, all Calendar Event posts (the ones we put up with the cards/summaries for each show that pop up in here) will be posted in there, so if you want to check on an upcoming show card, it'll be in the Bulletin Board section! From the Home page here, it's the third section listed, right under the Mod Squad!
And finally: divisions sign ups!!!
Now that we have a decent-sized roster and things are rolling, we need to talk about OCW's various divisions and your parts in them!
There will be a new post in the bulletin board section entitled "Division Sign-Ups". This is so we can more accurate book your wrestlers how you want them booked!
Currently there are only 3 divisions in OCW: Women's (which you can't sign up for, sorry guys, lol), Tag Team, and X-Violence. I'm asking folks to sign up for whichever divisions they want to (one or both, or neither) so we know generally how you want your character booked. For example.
*Sign up for neither, and your character will primarily be featured in singles matches and group matches involving mostly singles wrestlers. Your wrestler will mainly be competing towards the United States and World Championships, and will by and large be kept out of X-Violence/hardcore-style and tag matches.
*Sign up for the Tag Team division, and when possible, your wrestler will be booked in tag team matches, with more of a focus on gaining the Tag Team Championship. This doesn't mean your guys won't wrestle for the other single titles- they'll just have a vested interest in gaining the tag gold as well!
*Sign up for the X-Violence division, and you're gonna see some hardcore combat! X-Violence matches include pretty much every violent match variation we have, and your character will vie to become the king of violence as he attempts to gain the X-Violence Championship!
*Sign up for Tag Team AND X-Violence, and your character will be booked in pretty much any match that makes sense at the time, and will be just as likely to end up with a Tag Team or X-Violence title shot as a United States or World!
...and of course, you can opt out of any division at any time, though hopping in and out repeatedly MIGHT piss folks off, so stick with a decision for a while, eh?
That's about it- any problems, suggestions, etc., post 'em here, and keep in mind, if a post is missing, it might have just been relocated to the Bulletin Board!!!
