*The camera flickers and fades in on the back of Werwulf, shirtless and drenched in sweat. His breathing is rough and labored, his muscles flexing as his arms pump back and forth. As the view pans up to head level, his hair is seen pulled back and folded, clasped in a claw clip. The dim glow of the ellipticals screen is berated by the larger 60in flat screen on the wall just a few feet away.
The camera focuses on the TV as Rebel Raynes goes back into the ring, before hopping onto the apron and hesitating, just as the referee calls the 10. As if on cue, the alarm goes off signaling the 60-minute workout is complete.*
Drag: Does it bother you?
*The camera pans away to a wide shot as Dragune walks up to Wulf. Core is seen off to the right of them, slowly lifting dumbbells, though his attention is on the pair. Wulf steps down from the machine and grins like the Cheshire cat, a wide toothy grin that seems alien and disturbing upon his face.*
Wulf: Does it bother me? Not in the slightest… why, I would say it excites me to no end! I have spent this entire year trying to make a point, and that man there… *he points toward the paused image* …proved it with ease.
*Before Drag can comment, Wulf walks away, humming slightly to himself. Core switches arms as Dragune looks over questioningly.*
Core: It’s not hard to understand. Wulf can be an egotistical bastard…
Drag: Huge understatement.
Core: OK, fair enough. Yeah, he can come off arrogant and belittling, but deep down, his goal, his legacy if you will, was never about titles or accolades. Trophies don’t really mean anything to him. It was always about his mark of influence. The scar that the cTn has permanently etched onto OCW is insignificant compared to the type of impact that shaping the future of the company can bring, and of those who bring it.
*Dragune looks puzzled.*
Drag: Rebel!?! I thought it was a fluke him being brought in. I mean, I know it was my dropping the ball and getting into the mess that started it, and I’ve grown to love the guy like family, but what the hell can Wulf see in him that is that impactful?!
Wulf: I saw a man who was shunned and ridiculed.
*Dragune slowly turns as Wulf appears behind him. Core finishes his rep, drops the dumbbell and stands, before walking over to his partner.*
Wulf: I saw a man with fire, with fury, and with unbridled passion, just waiting to be unlocked… and I held the key. People always remember the carnage the Creatures leave in their wake, but what about the seeds that are planted? About the diamonds that we sow? Ace. Case. …Raynes.
The new age has been brewing in OCW, and who has led the charge? Do you think it coincidence that the men who have aligned themselves with the cTn have seen some of their highest dreams etched into the annals of OCW history? Raynes took the strap in his rookie year, and he did it by defeating the man no-one else could… me. If a man like Raynes can reach the pinnacle of our company in such a glorious way, what's stopping anyone else? Because I see a whole lot more potential in the OCW locker room, just waiting for a break.
Sure, I may be arrogant, I may occasionally be a dick and a bastard, but I speak the gospel and I practice what I preach. That’s the whole reason the cTn follows. I don’t force any of you to fall in line. I don’t demand loyalty or respect. I merely exist, and you all believe.
And believe me now when I say this, if OCW thought 2017 was a hell of year… just wait until they see how we shape ’18 and beyond...
*Core wraps his arms around Wulf’s shoulders from behind as the unnatural grin slowly returns to his face, and the camera fades to black.*
